Compost tea offers a simple and effective method of obtaining all the benefits of a biological approach to growing while significantly reducing the cost and labor used changing over to a biological approach. We will discuss how to make compost tea and how to integrate it into our growing practices. We often refer to quality compost as "Hand crafted Humus".  Humus is the layer of organic material on the surface in unmanaged environments and is necessary for fertile soil.  We can create quality compost to mimic the characteristics found in humus.  You may be making compost, wanting to start, or need to know what makes quality compost before you purchase from a vendor.  This ninety-minute class will cover the theory of composting, what starting materials to use & the ratios for different mixes, how to measure temperature, when to turn the pile, and how to tell when your hand crafted humus is finished.  $50.00
